If you are a hairstylist who has been working with celebrities, you would know the importance of professional hair shears. These are the primary tools used to create those amazing looks for the red carpet stars.

Professional hair shears are very important to every hairstylist. They not only cut hair but also help in shaping the hair. Also, the availability of different types of hair shears allows a stylist to use them for variety of purposes.

Thinning shears, for example are used only to remove bulk from the hair. They are very different from the traditional barbering scissors, as they have teeth and not blades. The teeth of thinning shears removes excess weight from the hair and makes them lighter.

One thing to consider while you buy hair scissors is – quality. It is important to purchase professional hair shears that are made from good quality of steel. After all, you won’t like it if your shears fail while you are working with your client.

If you want to buy professional hair shears, check out Scissorboy shears. These shears are made from 100% Japanese Hitachi Steel.

All ScissorBoy shears are drop forged, unlike lower quality cast shears that may look the same but perform like cheap scissors. The razor sharp blades have a fast, smooth, cut like butter feel!

Scissorboy shears are great for stylists who want to reduce wrist pain. These professional hair shears are ergonomically designed and economically priced.

Choose your pair of barbering scissors from Scissorboy shears and continue to create some amazing hairstyles!

Victoria Beckham is sporting a new hairstyle, courtesy of Thinning Shears. Popularly known as Posh Spice, Victoria has grown up with a new shaggy bob hairdo that has become the most admired hairstyle in the last 48 hours.

The singer-turned-fashion-designer was seen with her family at the LA Lakers basketball game on Friday. Victoria Beckham showcased her soft new feminine hairdo with such aplomb that her bob haircut attracted more attention than Lakers game. Her new style is nice and fresh and I feel her stylists must have used thinning shears to get that shaggy bob.

Posh has been experimenting with a lot of hairstyles this year and the tousled style is her latest addition. I liked this one because it’s a much gentler version of her first bob, nicknamed the Pob. Even celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford told the Daily Mail: ‘It’s nice to see her relax a little with her image.”

If you have ever cut your own hair, you may already be familiar with what thinning shears (also known as Thinners or Chunkers) are and what they can do for hair. If you’re not familiar with them, thinning shears are scissors that are used to thin and shape hair without altering the style. Thinners are great for those who need to thin down very thick or curly hair.

Posh’s hair was never curly but her choices included platinum blond crop and slick haircuts. One thing with Victoria’s hairstyles is that you get an impression that every style of her’s is meticulously thought out and planned. The current shaggy bob makes you feel as if she has gone for a big blow dry to give what an otherwise simple style a hint of glamor. The use of thinning shears adds more creativity and gives Victoria Beckham haircut bob a cool look.

Emmanuel Noel is a master stylist who has over sixteen years of experience in hair care. He hails from France, studied hairstyling in England and went on to work for L’oreal and Vidal Sassoon. His style combines both Latin and Anglo-Saxon influences he learned in his native France, as well as an English influence while studying at Tony & Guy and Vidal Sassoon. Due to his enormous experience and creativity, he has developed a style which he is able to customize to suit each of his client’s requirements.

We featured Emmanuel at his salon – Atelier Emmanuel on one of the first episodes of The Cutting Edge Hair show. In the episode, he focused on layered haircuts and Texturizing Hair Using Thinning Shears. He only used a few hair shears, stressed that lot of haircuts are good but unfinished, and that texturizing can help finish your haircut.

Emmanuel revealed two techniques for achieving texturized hair:

  1. Piquetage Technique, wherein you start by holding the hair with one hand and hold the scissors with the other hand and go into the hair with the scissors. It is necessary to hold the hair shears parallel and not perpendicular to the direction of hair, otherwise excess hair would be removed.
  2. Finger Technique, wherein you need to wrap a section of hair around your index finger and lock it in place with the thumb. At this point, you need to hold the shears parallel to the direction of the hair and use the tips to cut the hair.

He said that layering hair can create problems and texturizing hair can fix those problems. He suggested on using thinning shears, razors or scissors to texturize and also gave a few really valuable tips. The one that appealed to me the most was, “Lots of stylists get into the habit of texturizing at one or a few angles. Don’t limit yourself. Try texturizing at several different angles to get the result you are looking for.”

While discussing his passion for hairstyling, Emmanuel said that the main reason he opened Atelier Emmanuel was that he wanted to, create a salon environment which emboldens everyone to deepen their craft. He is an exclusive carrier of GHD hair products. The services offered in his salon are:

  • HAIR
